Big Shot/3D Project Class/Club - Wed, August 29

Here are the projects we'll be making this week at the 3D Project/Big Shot Class on Wednesday, August 29 at 7pm!  I'd love for you to join us!!  Just email me at amy.frillici@yahoo.com or call (989) 330-0259 to RSVP today!!  You bring scissors and adhesive - I provide everything else!!  It's such a great way to spend an hour or two - and you end up with some fun projects you can duplicate at home and give as gifts to your friends and family :)

This first project is an assortment of Composition Journals that I covered with some of my favorite Designer Series Papers....  I thought these would be a great gift to the kids as they go back to school!  You'll choose the Designer Series Paper you like and cover your own journal (provided).  Then "pretty it up" with some ribbon and embellishments - what fun!!  After seeing these, my kids have both put their requests in for their journals!

This first journal features the World Spectacular Designer Series Paper, some Island Indigo 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon and the Blue Ribbon Stamp set.

On to our second project for class on Wednesday...  This is one of those projects I've been wanting to do for soooo long now...  I've decided I want to stop THINKING about all the projects I want to do AND JUST DO THEM!  I love that I have classes that I can design these projects for, as well as use them for my own purposes!  In this case, I've been wanting a better way to carry pictures in my purse than those flimsy, clear, flippy photo holders - they take up too much room in my wallet and frankly, I'd need a few of them to put the pictures in anyway...  So, I decided to create my own....

Here's the idea... (that I got from one of our Make-n-Take projects at Convention!).  I started with an outside layer of the new Natural Composition Specialty Designer Series Paper.  It's very sturdy and will hold up well in my purse!  I punched two tiny flowers (one for the front, one for the back) with the Itty Bitty Shapes Flower Punch and adhered them each with a Mini Brad. 

Then I tied some Linen Thread around each of the Mini Brads to keep the album closed - untwist, and the album is opened.....

There are 4 sheets of Very Vanilla paper on the inside, scored in the middle and also held together with Linen Thread - enough pages to hold 15 photos!  I put a caption on the first page of the album (with the Notable Alphabet stamp set) to indicate what was to come next in the album....  In this case, pictures of my kids through the years.  I also made separate albums for Lilly's dance and soccer pictures and Cade's football, soccer and baseball pictures.  I even made albums for the kids' school pictures each year.  Now I finally feel like I'm putting all those pictures we've ordered through the years to good use!!  And, when someone asks, do you have pictures of your kids??  I'll be more than ready!!

Card Buffet Class - Tues & Wed, Aug 28 & 29

Here are a few of the cards you can choose to make at the Card Buffet Class this week on Tuesday or Wednesday, August 28 and 29!  I think I have an additional 15 cards to choose from as well!  Also, if the sentiments on these (or any of the Buffet Cards) are not what you're looking for, we can always find a sentiment that will work for you - just let me know at class!

I'm kind of in the mood for fall, so this card makes me happy!!  I found the idea while browsing Stampin' Connection - thanks Connie Tumm!!  It features a Soft Suede card base and the new Comfort Cafe Designer Series Paper.  We also had fun playing with the new Scentsational Seasons Stamp set and coordinating Holiday Collection Framelit dies - they are perfect for stamping that hot chocolate mug and die-cutting it with precision!!  The "Thank You" sentiment is from the Blooming with Kindness stamp set, a beautiful stamp set from the Annual Catalog.

This next card (that I made a similar version of at Ronda Wade's Baggie Book event earlier this summer) also features the Comfort Cafe Designer Series paper.  We also used the new Delicate Designs Impression Folder along the bottom of the card - I think it's the perfect compliment to the paper above!  The sentiment and pretty flowers (stamped in the new In Color, Midnight Muse) are from the Embellished Events stamp set, another fun set in the Annual Catalog.  The final touches are the Midnight Muse Dahlia and the pearls - what a pretty card!

This next card is a CASE from Ronda Wade - this was her convention swap this year.  I didn't have the DSP color she used, so I changed it up a bit.  I love how she used the Orament Punch to make the strawberry, and then the leaves on the strawberry are from the Bird Punch.  We also used the Chevron Embossing Folder on the white card stock and tied a simple Wild Wasabi 1/4" Stitched Grograin "cheater" bow to add a little accent.  The sentiment "Sending Many Thanks" is from the Petite Pairs Stamp Set.  It's such a sweet card - send it to someone sweet!!

Of course, I had to do a Mary Fish card this month - the hardest part is choosing which one to do!!  I loved this card the minute I saw it.  Plus...  I love that, with the purchase of this Stamp Set, Moving Forward, Stampin' Up will donate $3 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities.  And... that tricycle is too fun - I wish I could ride it!!  This card also features the Chevron Embossing Folder and the Scallop Square Duo Bigz Die, as well as the Polka Dot Parade Designer Series Paper.

Here is one more card using the Comfort Cafe Designer Series Paper - like I said, I was in the mood for fall and this paper just says "fall" to me :).  I found this card on Stampin Connection as well - thanks to Jen Mitchell for her simple, but beautiful, card!  We used the new Elegant Butterfly punch and then layered it on the largest die cut from the Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die.  A few strips of coordinating colors - Pool Party, Cajun Craze and Summer Starfruit - and this card is about complete!!  The final touch - the sentiment - Thinking of You.... is from the Thoughts & Prayers Stamp set.

Scrapbook Class/Club - Tuesday, August 28

These first two pages were inspired by a scrapbook layout I saw at Jill Hilliard's blog, http://jill031070.blogspot.com/.  We started with a Real Red base and add LOTS of color with the Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper. 

We created some "waves" at the bottom of the page with the Large Scallop Edgelit die with the Big Shot. 

The "clouds" were created with the Cupcake Builder punch - love that idea!!  Finally, we added the "SPLASH" with the new Typeset Alphabet Bigz Dies- these dies create perfect letters every time and can be used in so many applications!!

This third page for the month features the Floral District Designer Series Paper, which was the inspiration for the colors on this page (Rich Razzleberry, Lucky Limeade and Daffodil Delight). We added a strip of Lucky Limeade 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon - I am really going to miss this In-Color ribbon when it's gone next June!! - and then a thin strip of Daffodil Delight card stock cut with the Scallop Edge Border punch.  

I tried to get a close-up of the flower on the top right of the page because I was really proud of how this turned out - apparently, I shouldn't be too proud of my photo-taking skills because I couldn't get a picture to turn out well enough to include on my blog...!  Anyway, I used one of the Paper Daisies Accents and stamped the big flower image from the Betsey's Blossoms Stamp set on it in Lucky Limade ink - this stamp coordinates perfectly with the flowers on the DSP!!  Then,  I used a sponge dauber and added some Rich Razzleberry ink to one of the smaller paper flowers and put it all together with a Lucky Limeade brad - what fun!!  You'll just have to come to class and make one to see how cool they are!!
